Gray's Beach Park Playground

The 2023 rebuild of the Gray’s Beach Park Playground created something our community can be proud of, and together we created a space that included opportunities of Universal Design, Interpretative and Interactive Play, enhanced Accessibility, and equipment durability, by looking at Play Components in so many different ways.

The Universal Playground concept was so important for us in this design; which includes things like how many can play together at the same time, is there space for children who may have sensory considerations, are there opportunities for children to create their own way of playing in the space; and how can adults interact with their children, and be more a part of the interactive play.

This design creates an opportunity for adults and children to “play together”, and the ability of creating their own interpretation together. The 2-person swing is another example of adult and child interactive play – what a great way to see your little one’s smiling face when you are sitting right across from them.
